Getting started in horse training

Postby calista » Fri Jul 12, 2013 11:09 am

Hi everyone,

I'm a University student with plenty of experience in riding (about 16 years) and horse ownership, but I'm very interested in gaining more training experience. This is something I would like to do in the future and though I've had years and years of riding lessons, I have not yet had the opportunity to have much practice in actual training.

Right now it is not really feasible for me to buy a horse of my own to work with (due to those sky-high University fees), so I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas about how I might go about gaining this experience while I'm in school. Perhaps a trainer I could shadow for awhile, or someone I could learn from?

Just looking for ideas at the moment, I'm located in the Newmarket/Mount Albert/Queensville area.

Any help would be much appreciated :)
