Razzba is correct (in my so humble opinion). Not only are they not good riders, they are crappy horsemen.
There are 2 kinds of people here.
1) Horsemen OR excuse me ladies Horse Women.
2) Horse owners.
Yes there is a difference although most of the type 2 cant see it. Probably in reality less than 10% of horse owners ever become horsemen(women), hereafter called horse people. duhh
Horse owners are transient. Horses are interesting till a man or woman comes along, work gets in the way, etc. Horse owners are prepared or willing to give up horses for something else.
A true horse people (person) simply can't do without and will do anything to keep the experience going. Horse owners dont stay up all night with a sick horse, horse owners dont go to work with hay in their hair and poop stuck in the treads of their shoes - horse people do! Horse people stay up late or get up early even if just to go to the barn to say good nite or good morning to their buddy.
Horse people have mementos they cherish from every horse they have owned. Horse owners have a list of their horses in order of how impressive they were and what they won. Horse persons agonize for weeks or months about having to sell a horse while horse owners slap a sign " for sale " "outgrown or too busy" on the wall and move on to the next conquest.
I know Im in deep doodoo for this one. Dont bother flaming me or sending nasty emails. I wont respond. The horse people out there will know who they are. The horse owners wont...

I think the reason for this thread has a slightly deeper root than is at first evident

Looks like this thread has run its course.
All good points have been made.
If anyone comes across a post that has crossed the line of respect then I'm just a PM away.
