Come on in and talk about anything equestrian related

Im Old!
Im Grumpy!
Im getting tired of looking at threads and finding people attacking each other and getting nasty, A forum that starts out on a horse topic soon ends up with 2 people sniping back and forth about some perceived personal flaw one doesnt like.
Remember what your mom told you. If you cant say something nice -  shut up!!
If this went on at a workplace the parties would be dragged into the Human Resources manages office and they would be reprimanded.
This place is to talk horses -  not to make personality attacks.
Im done, finished, and through. I will not contribute to any forum in the future where someone is being a twit!!!!

I agree with you Jake...It's not nice to be on the wrong end of pointless unfounded attack over something silly or misunderstood on a bulletin board. I hope nothing has happened to you recently here to make you feel upset like this.

Hope nothing has happened that has made you feel personally attacked Jake! <br /> <br />I agree, there is no point in bickering, it is a place to meet friends and share the one thing we all have in common: our love of horses! <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley27.gif" border="0">

Hi Jake!
Although I totally agree that personal attacks are uncalled for, I find that this forum is remarkeably free of these sorts of problems when compared to lots of others.&nbsp; And, heck, there are twits in real life everywhere you go, too! <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">
I daresay that unless one is prepared to put up with (or help defuse) the occasional transgression into personal "attack-dom" or "twitiness",&nbsp; you'd be hard-pressed to find any bb in cyberspace to post on at all! <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">
Your posts here on EC, although not numerous, have been incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and it would be a shame to lose your valuable input.&nbsp; So please reconsider letting the actions of a few tarnish your opinion of the whole...

And I've almost caught up with you, pmc <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">.&nbsp; You are very eloquent, and have said everything that I would like to second.&nbsp; Jake, when I come across those kind of posts here, I just move on.&nbsp; But I have to admit, they are very few and far between, unless I've missed something........
Maybe we need a code word to insert in such a thread, like those I have to let someone know they have something stuck in their teeth at a dinner party to fix the faux pas <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">.&nbsp; Subtle but to the point.&nbsp; Any ideas, guys?

One of my favs is "XYZ" which means "Examine Your Zipper" - used when someone's fly is at half-mast... <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">
My best friend (and wee pmc's godmother) has been my friend forever.&nbsp; When we were (much) younger,&nbsp;she had the proclivity to get increasingly&nbsp;opinionated in direct proportion to the amount of alcohol consumed.&nbsp; Since I wasn't a drinker (and, in retrospect now realize that the only reason my presense was tolerated was because I always drove!) there were times when I had to pull her aside and lovingly tell her to "Put a sock in it."
So, as a joke, I&nbsp;actually put a sock in my purse, and the next time I noticed her going down that road, I simply let a wee piece of the sock stick out, tapped her on the shoulder and pointed to my purse.&nbsp; She burst out laughing and pulled in her reins.&nbsp; Then if, as the night wore on, she needed another reminder, the amount of sock visible would increase accordingly.&nbsp; We still laugh about that to this day...<IMG src="smileys/smiley14.gif" border="0">
So perhaps the code word "PASIT" (Put A Sock In It) would work here, too... <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"><edited><editID>pmc</editID><editDate>38388.3407291667</editDate></edited>

What a great story, pmc <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">.&nbsp; Unless someone else has a better one, I think PASIT it is!

Personally I do agree with Jake...when I come upon the flames I retreat and leave the room....don't want any part of that....leave it alone....If we all just dropped the particular topic it would not spread into a bomb...MHO...

It was not an attack on me.
I get attacked on other forums regularly (ie: racehorsedrugs.com) when I question the validity of some off the wall supplement or off label drug use. Thats understandable because the low life trainers are trying to justify the use of drugs over intelligent training.
Here it has recently been people taking allmost viscious exception to someones reason for asking a question or their opinion or even their sense of humour.
Apparently many contributors on this site think that its their way or the highway. That gets us nowhere. With over 30 years of being a nutritionist I still dont get everything right. Thats why I have people who I call and ask. I dont get mad when they tell me I was going off in the wrong direction.
What amazes me the most is how some people keep the sniping going long after the initial forum topic has been finished.

Errrrr....that would be PASII, not PASIT.&nbsp; That's what I get for posting before my second cuppa in the morning... <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">
And Jake, yes I agree that some people only agree to disagree.&nbsp;
I find this most often happens with the "a little knowlege is a dangerous thing" kind of postings, when&nbsp;someone feels&nbsp;they are an&nbsp;expert on something because they read an article or took a clinic.&nbsp;&nbsp;<IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">&nbsp; They've "seen the light" and expect you to be dazzled,&nbsp;too.
I've been around horses longer than most have been alive, and the only thing I truly know is that there's still so much to know.&nbsp;&nbsp;I'm always open to new ideas (even if they're just old ones wrapped in a shiny new package!), as long as no one tries to cram it down my throat.&nbsp;
I can get a li'l cranky when I'm choking... <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">&nbsp;<edited><editID>pmc</editID><editDate>38388.5198148148</editDate></edited>

This is a wise decision, Eileen.&nbsp; Heck, you're old, too aren't you? <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">
I will, however, occasionally prolong a topic that probably should be left alone.&nbsp; But I usually only do so if there has been some potentially harmful mis-information posted, that, if not clarified or discredited, might&nbsp;do genuine harm in the real world should someone actually decide to try the "advice" for themselves... <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">

Yep, Trolls all over the place!
I personally think that these kind of people can not be good riders. They just got to have too much tension and negativity going inside of them, its got to be felt by the horse.
I just smile and ride on the buckle!&nbsp;

lol i might be one of the experts you're talking about&nbsp;for attending a clinic <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">&nbsp;Just keep in mind most of us who have gone through the same issues and gone to a clinic and found a positive working solution just want to share and help others out too. It's not about seeing the light. But i have found a lot of postings get repeated with new members so it comes up again and is repeated. Everyone has a method that works best for them.
Sorry to hear about your negative experiences Jakesterd. Just remember it's a BB and sometimes things said in humor can be taken the wrong way because it is so hard to decipher ebonics. Personally, i have had success with Pming people to clarify what they meant. And most of the time, they have very well meaning tendencies...Just horrible ways of expressing themselves through type <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">
