He Really Exists!

Come on in and talk about anything equestrian related

First, a HUGE "thank-you" to Kaleena for alerting me to this.
A few months back I was lamenting the fact that I knew *nothing* about Dali's past because I never got papers when I got him, and couldn't make out more than the letter on his lip tattoo.  All I knew was that his registered name was supposedly "Ladies Dan" but this name did not come up in the TB Pedigree site.
Kaleena suggested to me at the time, that I go to the site and enter as much information about Dali as I knew.  She had done this with her mare and in a couple weeks, she went back and her mare's entire pedigree had been filled in.
Welllll...guess what??&nbsp; Dali's pedigree has ALSO been filled in.&nbsp; I now know who he is and from whence he came <IMG src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0">&nbsp; Here's the link:
<A href="http://www.pedigreequery.com/index.php?query_type=check&amp;search_bar=horse&amp;h=Ladies+Dan&amp;g=5&amp;inbred=Standard&amp;x2=n" target="_blank">http://www.pedigreequery.com/index.php?query_type=check&amp;search_bar=horse&amp;h=Ladies+Dan&amp;g=5&amp;inbred=Standard&amp;x2=n</A>
So, he really exists <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">&nbsp;
Not really being "up" on TB stuff, I have no idea what all the names mean, or how "well-bred" he really is.&nbsp; The only names I recognize are "Northern Dancer" and "Nasrullah".&nbsp; But at least now, if I want to contact the Jockey Club to get more information on him, such as how many times and he raced and when he was retired, I can probably get it.
Kind of exciting to finally know a bit about his past.

Yes, I meant to thank Andy for the link to the labor board (I guess seeing as it's a Canadian agency I should say labour), one of my bosses doesn't think she has to pay me (partially)for stat holidays because I'm part-time and now I can show her that she does!

Some good lines in his pedigree, especially 4 back - Nasrullah, Northern Dancer, Princequillo.&nbsp; Also, Mumtaz Begum is great, out of Mumtaz Mahal who was a fabulous mare.&nbsp; Heliopolis, which is Hyperion - good stuff.
Glad you found him! <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"><edited><editID>jax</editID><editDate>38393.3659606481</editDate></edited>

A little hint...now that you know his pedigree...go to the same site again and go/click to their MB at the top.&nbsp; To avoid paying money...I usually post on their MB and people there have access to documents/books and they told me my guy's racing history and a little background info on him...like how many starts..wins/place etc.&nbsp; You get an e-mail stating there is a response at the MB and it links you back to a response.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were very helpful and quick.&nbsp; I tell them my plans for the horse and want background info...and they are so happy that they get a great home and a new start on life after racing.&nbsp;
Funny about TB pedigree....they all have famous parentage in them.&nbsp; One of my Tb's sire won the Queens Plate and many stakes wins too.&nbsp;Many famous names in his pedigree too.&nbsp; Unfortunately, my guy was a big loser and they didn't have the sense to stop racing him sooner.&nbsp;

Hes got some very nice horses in his pedigree - Vice Regent, Damascus (VERY GOOD LINE), Nearco, Sword Dancer, and Nasrullah as you mentioned.&nbsp; I like he has a good mix of the exotic blood in there too with the horses from Ireland, Argentina, France, Britain&nbsp;and Chile he's related to.

Yay! You are very welcome of course<img border="0" src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">. I know what it's like to not know anything about your TB and then finally find some info on them. Glad I was able to help. <br /> <br />Patrica's hint was good, I didn't know people would look your horse up through the message board back when I was looking up my mare.

Yes, every TB I acquired&nbsp;with their racing name I was able to get a little background info on them/racing stats at the MB..without paying.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were always nice and gracious&nbsp;and willing to help somone that was giving an&nbsp;OTTB a new life with a new job/owner.&nbsp; Try posting racing name and his DOB and ask about his background and racing stats.&nbsp; Can't wait to hear more about him.

Chenders -
Northern Dancer and Nasrullah are Snicker's Great-grandaddies.
Probably half of the horses around are "related" in one way or another... <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"><edited><editID>pmc</editID><editDate>38393.4310300926</editDate></edited>
