Remembering Why I Love Jumping.

Postby EatMyDust » Tue Nov 01, 2005 7:16 pm

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#So, I bet most of you read my other post, about how Im scared to jump. So I decided tonight(feeling kinda daredevilish) to tack up all english, get into my riding pants, find those riding gloves and over come my fear all by myself. So I basically taught myself a lesson, I told myself everything that I wanted to do. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#So I warmed Dusty up. He was so anzty, but I just sat through it and continued. He settled down and when I said "Im going to jump" His ears pricked right up, he got into position, picked up speed, and we headed for the jump, we moved into canter, I tightened my reins, got ready for my 2-point, said 3,2,1 JUMP and BAM!I did it! So I made up some courses for myself. Dusty was AMAZING! With capitals! We only knocked down ONE board outta the whole 1 hour lesson I gave myself, and we only screwed up our leads once! I dont think I have ever been so happy and so proud of myself before. This was not only a big step for me, but it was a huge step for Dusty, my confidence level went sky high. I did everything tonight. And I even figured that Dusty would forget what he was doing(I havent jumped since like July) and he was even better then before. He is so well known for refusing a jump, or all of them and tonight, that wasnt even on his mind. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I feel so good right now. Happiest Ive been with him in quite awhile!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I just had to share!!!!!!!!!lol#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Congrats..maybe you should be taking lessons on Dusty? #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Lessons are imperative if you want to improve and be open to new ideas. I'm glad you're doing well on your own, but I hope you find a great coach to help you along. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Horses do think. Not very deeply, perhaps, but enough to get you into a lot of trouble." - Unknown
