Question....

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#My boy won some prize money at the show that we took him to. I didn't ride him but I paid for everything. Trailer/entry fees etc....who gets the prize money? I was going to split it half and half. Is that right?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#seems fair to me...that's the deal that I have. I ride the horse, but pay for nothing and I get 1/2 of whatever he wins (unless it's really small, then there's no real point....plus I got the fun of riding....:P)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#well it's certainly nice of you to offer.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#GS - they didn't give you anything for your winning riding performance? I'd just be inclined to think of it as a performance bonus or something similar.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#My understanding is that if you paid the rider, you keep the prize money. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I've never been paid to show, when I have shown other people's horses whoever paid the entry fees kept the prize money.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#^^^^ agreed.  A friend of mine rode a horse for some people and (obviously) wasn't expected to pay for anything for the horse.  However, anything she won (money, ribbons, brushes, etc) the owners kept.  I remember her last show of the season with that horse she was Champion and asked if she could keep the ribbon (and just the ribbon) as a memory of the horse, and the owners said no.  #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#So, I think what you are offering is very nice, but I don't think you are obligated (maybe morally, but not in the business sense) to give them anything.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Some people just like to keep the ribbons and money--but to me, if I'm not riding the horse, whats the point? #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
