ride #2

Postby babytigger » Mon Nov 14, 2005 2:20 pm

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#so i went up on saturday afternoon for ride #2 on the big guy, spyder. i had the arena to myself, and i'm glad it was decent weather. i was told they had at the barn snow thursday a.m!! my goodness!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#anyways, so i got get spidey out of his paddock (with a couple of carrots to coax him), into the barn & get ready to roll. spidey is all groomed, tacked up, boots on etc......out to the arena we go......darn it i forgot the lunge line.....and i don't feel like going back to the barn to gt it (20 feet, if that -i'm lazy!!!). so i tie him all up so reins & stirrups are secure, and give him the "off you go". he's having fun just trekking around the arena...he canters, he does a little kick or two, he's calming down.....so i say "OK big guy...time to ride a bit". i pop on, and off we go. he hates going to the right, and of course dummy me forgot a whip to carry with me, and i rarely carry them with me, but i ought to have one for this guy, for going to the right at least. anyways, aside from thr battle to the right, he was very good, relaxed & well behaved. we got some nice slow trot & a decent canter...heck, i even managed to get some shoulder in & haunches in (accidentally mind you, but now i know what it feels like on a horse schooled to do it, not those schoolies from years ago!!! lol!!)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#so all in all, spidey was a good guy. i only rode for maybe 30-40 minutes, but figured that was plenty for the 2nd ride, and my ankles & back - after all, they need to get into shape too!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#now, i have a lesson on saturday afternoon -i'm hoping that goes as well, and hopefully better!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#sorry guys - no pics, hubby was working & my mum couldn't make it up this time - maybe another time she said!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

When something goes wrong in a show, it's actually the best time because you learn from it. You ask yourself 'what can I do better?' When everything goes OK, you don't ask yourself that question --- ANKY

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Ibuprofen is your FRIEND!! #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Teasing/12.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Actually, I re-discovered the joys of a nice, hot bath, after getting bucked off of Dali last winter.  Bubbles, hot water...mmm...warms you right up and gets rid of all those aches and pains, after a good riding workout.  #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I'm sure you'll be fine, BT.  DL isn't likely going to be a real slave-driver for your first lesson.  I don't think she's *that* evil (not like I would be LOL!!).#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
