Does anyone know if any retailer (eg. Bahrs) does saddle trade ins?
I really need to get rid of one and could use one with a more narrow (medium) tree for my mare.

Well I think most any small town saddle shop would do the trade in thing...I have noticed that in most of those type of stores there is always a selection of used and new saddles sitting on display.&nbsp; This of course is a lot of western stores that I have been in...not sure about the english saddles...<IMG src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0">

Well there is nothing up here in boonies-ville, Eileen.
I was thinking of a more larger retail tack shop that I could send it to.
Maybe I should have sent it to Florida with you!&nbsp;

Apple does for sure.....but to be really honest Razzba, you're better off selling it yourself! Apple will give about 1/4 of what it's worth....so you're better off to sell it yourself, and then just use that money towards the new saddle that you want.

I agree with Rickie - better off selling it yourself if you can.&nbsp; I took my Passier dressage into Bahrs and I wouldn't have got back half of what it cost me.&nbsp; Now that I am no longer destitute, I am having it fitted to my horse (Thursday, woo hoo!).
Why don't you put an ad up here on EC?&nbsp; Costs you nothing. <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0">

A lot of the larger stores will take your saddle either in trade or on consignement, but they will never give you as much as you can get selling privately. In my area for saddles sold on consignement, the stores will keep anything from 20-50% of the selling price. Some places will give you a better deal if you bought the saddle from them initially and are trading "up" but the stores always come out on top! <br />Just to answer your question, Bahr's does either consignment or trade!<edited><editID>Ellie</editID><editDate>38390.5931481481</editDate></edited>

yes I guess you guys are right about the saddle tradeins, sort of like trading in a used car....you never get what you want for it then when it is sold out on the lot....wow look at the price they are asking for it, better to sell it on your own, good luck with the sale

Hi Razzba, I tried 3 times to sell my saddle on E-bay. $18 later I still had my saddle <IMG src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0">&nbsp;And my price was excellant. I saw saddles on there, same brand, mine in better condition and my price was still low. I had someone bid below my reserve during one of the auctions and he was the only bidder, I e-mailed him and told him I would even sell it for that price and I didn't hear back from him <IMG src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0">. I think I have decided I like e-bay better for buying than I do for selling. I tried selling a saddle on there a couple years ago also, and had no luck.
The first saddle I ended up selling here on EC and the second one (the one I have been trying to sell for a while now) was shipped out today to B.C. (through EC also)
I suggest just holding out with it on EC.
I noticed that since December I didn't have ANY interest in my saddle and it's just been the last week or so that I've had about 5 e-mails for it. People will soon be starting to look for new saddles and tack for show season. Hang in there! <IMG src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"><edited><editID>Dee22</editID><editDate>38390.661400463</editDate></edited>

OK!!! Thanks for the inspiration guys!
I'll get my ad tuned up and see what happens.
I didn't think ebay sounded like something that I wanted to do. PITA.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#almost every place does trade ins, but you have to be careful with that because alot of places dont give really anything worth while for trade ins. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I wouldnt even trade in at picovs ever again, I did that once and they gave me a pathetic price for my saddle. I was not impressed. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Places in ont.... bahrs, picovs, apple, wilton tack (theyre really good for trade ins and offereing deals), bridle path, double horse shoe, probly any of the bigger tack shops around toronto. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
When something goes wrong in a show, it's actually the best time because you learn from it. You ask yourself 'what can I do better?' When everything goes OK, you don't ask yourself that question --- ANKY

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I sold my beautiful crosby on ebay and got ripped off big time.&nbsp; The person I sold it to claimed I sent her a cracked old unusable saddle, and took pictures of one and sent that into ebay.&nbsp; Since it was pay through pay pal she got her money back.&nbsp; And I was not only out a saddle but money as well, which reminds me I havent replaced the funds on paypal and she doesnt get her money back till I do, its been 8 months what do you think the chances are I do.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#So if you decided to go the ebay route I would ask for a money order over anything else and make sure its all clear because you send the saddle away.&nbsp; Actually no matter where you sell make sure of that.&nbsp; #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
