Ok, so we are getting desperate to sell one of the horses at my barn. Thing is, it's a small place, run by 2 people, there are 2 new foals on the way, and there is enough room for all the horses, but just not enough time for the 3 of us to look after all of these horses!

In the summer, there will be a total of 7 up there, and for 2 people, plus myself when I can, it's a little too much.

Anyway, we are trying to sell our 2 year old CSH filly. She has shown, has worn a saddle, has lots of experience, and she is a cutie, so I'm sure there would be lots of people who would be interested. But we don't really know how to go about advertising her.

Right now the asking price is about $12,000 (VERY negotiable). She is on our website, but what are some other ways to advertise her so we find a buyer sometime soon?

Thanks for your help everyone!

Put an add in the classifieds on here...and up at your local tack store and any barns in the area. Also, advertise her online on one of these sites:

www.horsecity.com

www.horseville.com

www.horseweb.com

www.2Buyhorses.com

www.dreamhorse.com

www.horsetopia.com

www.Myhorses.ca

www.horsesincanada.com

www.netequine.com

www.equibus.com

I suggest really playing up her strong points and her training and breeding so far. You know: clips/baths/leads/lounges/trailers good with farrier, etc...

Good Luck! Hope you find her a great home!

advertise her right here in the EC classifieds. I sold my horse that way. You could always try other classified websites as well.

Best of luck with her
also try your local horse papers - around here we have a couple of horse publications that will print sales ads. I also recommend www.dreamhorse.com and www.equine.com I've had luck with www.agdirect.com too. these are mostly US-based sites, but dont forget that many people aren't affraid to import, especially with canada being so close that the shipping fees arent rediculous.

First off...I'm hearing from everyone sales are slow right now. A coming 2 year old is going to be a more difficult sale than a horse under saddle.

I would recommend posting on the CSHA site (don't they do classifieds?) and on www.equiman.com. A lot of CSHA breeders and people who show on the line post there. I don't remember your filly, but I do remember the name from the line show circuit....she did fairly well I believe?

I would recommend getting a good conformation shot of your filly and putting it up on site. The head shot that is there is not flattering to her, and not likely to make me as a potential buyer rush to get in touch.

Just some suggestions. Good luck!

Make sure you have excellent quality pictures with your ad. I couldn't sell my gelding until I got really good, clear, quality shots of him.

Make sure you put a picture with every ad. It really increases your chances of someone contacting you.

I highly recommend www.equine.com
You have to pay but it's totally worth it. You get alot of exposure through this site.

This site is good, as well as www.horsetopia.com. I got alot of interest from theses sites but never anything too serious unfortunately.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone!
Tons of sites we can advertise her on, so thanks for those. Yes, it's hard with a coming 2y/o because she's not yet trained, but she really does have a lot of strong points and has been doing well at line shows, so those will help us show her off a little.

Draygonfyne, yes, I know the pic isn't very flattering! We have much better ones on the way, and I've asked for a confirmation shot to be used in ads, so hopefully we'll have that as well! <edited><editID>Hev339</editID><editDate>38398.5915393519</editDate></edited>
