#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Harvey's getting a new saddle soon #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Happy/15.gif"#ed_cl# I've been saving my pennies and boyfriend just got a bonus at work. I'm getting the Barnsby Omega I so admire. Exchange rates are decent right now too so I might save a couple bucks. I'm going to be paying $1400 cdn from the place from the states. They are listed on Apple Saddlery for $2234 so it's a good deal. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Whats the best/cheapest way for having it shipped so that i won't get robbed on shipping costs?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thanks :D#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#A href="http://www.barnsby.com/html/Product_details.asp?Procat=6&ProID=33"#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG id=Picture10 style="WIDTH: 164px; HEIGHT: 161px" height=117 alt=OMEGA src="http://www.barnsby.com/assets/images/s-720s.gif" width=120 border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/A#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Yay SP! Glad to hear you're finally getting that long-awaited-for saddle! ;) #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Somehow I don't think shipping a saddle could ever be too cheap...probably at least $40 US? I'd say - Ship it with US priority - just so it can't get lost in the mail or damaged! (& you can keep track of it as well) for a couple extra bucks, I think its worth it, I mean the saddle is not exactly cheap, so you'll want it insured.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#EM#ed_cl#Little Harvey is getting her saddle... #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Happy/15.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/EM#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#AWSgurl - the saddle that SP is getting is brand new!! What a great deal huh! And I guess, technically, you could say its from a tack shop ;) - or a friend who owns an online tack shop or so.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Well if SP is getting it from a tack shop they should be able to ship it for her and at a better rate then if she arranged it herself, I would look into it, recently a friend of mine just got something shipped from a tack shop they arranged the shipping, said it would be more cheapier if they did it, it arrived safe and sound.....#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Promise is right #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Happy/14.gif"#ed_cl# It is a girl from another BB with an online tack shop. So the saddle is brand brand spanking new. I have looked at a few used ones and they are even more expensive than the deal i am getting on this one. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#AWS - I borrowed Colleen's and I love it #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I don't know if it matters shipping wise but the saddle is coming from New Hampshire#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I know and they will. My question is what way is cheapest? Ground, air, etc? Is there a way i can avoid being nailed for duty? ie. to say it's a refund, return, gift, etc is what I am asking.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#d8a5bb#ed_cl#SP: One thing I learnt having a saddle shiped from the states, was if they insure it, you'll pay through your @ss to get it! #ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#d8a5bb#ed_cl##ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#d8a5bb#ed_cl#One lady shipped me a saddle, and insured it on her end, when it got to my door step, I had to pay ANOTHER $200 for it! #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/dead.gif"#ed_cl# I wasn't impressed at all! And when my dad (poor guy, he happen to answer the door, when no one else was home) ask why he had to pay for this saddle, the dude told him cause of the insurance on it!#ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#d8a5bb#ed_cl##ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#d8a5bb#ed_cl#I thought that was OUTRAGIOUS! #ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#0080ff#ed_cl#OOh man..decisions, decisions. Th tackshop near by (like, 5 mins away) jus got a new shipment of barnsbys in. Within that shpment, they have the saddle that i want. Problem is, it will be anywhere from 500- 800 more at base price. now i save on shipping, which i budgetted $200 for, and I also get a free fitting with it.#ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#0080ff#ed_cl#The way it works is that someone from barnsby brought in the shipment of saddles, the shop buys off of them and then sells it. What do you think of making a cash offer to the shop on a new saddle? I know its the norm. on used saddles but dont want to make an idiot of myself doing it on a new saddle. I have my old wintec which mght make me 150-200 towards the new one...not sure what route to go.#ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#0080ff#ed_cl#The other concerning thing is that I just found out Barnsby will now make their saddles in foam on request #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Shocked/1.gif"#ed_cl# It saves some money for the tack shops. I know the saddle i triedout today is fore sure wool. I would hate to order from the states and find out thatits foam regardless of what i'm told #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys//smiley5.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#AWS ....no...all i saw was a 17.5 inch. I'm looking through some of the other APs though...I do want the omega though. I've found a couple nice used ones...now if i could get away with a 16.5 - 17.5 seat, i'd have it made #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Sad/7.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#SP - I would ask a ton of questinos to the place in the states to make sure you are getting what you want wool over foam and that if you get it and arent happy it can be shipped back at the stores expense. As in if they lie to you they should pay for it to come back. When I shipped my saddle up from the states it cost 25 US but then when it got to my door there was another 25 Can something about custom charges.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Its a big investment and if the lady really wants to sell she will answer all your questions and concerns.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Unless it's marked as a gift... you'll have to pay duty on what the (I think Canadian) value of the saddle is, so you might be looking at over $200 after customs takes it's chunk.......#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Usually when it is a gift it has to be $50 and under...so they have to declare the value on the parcel for it to clear customs...and what it is. They have a book with different rates depending on what it is. You pay a brokerage charge, a shipping charge and a customs tarif. Try contact the Canada Customs office and they will better tell you what to expect. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Well I've decided to go with the one from the states. I spoke to the woman on the phone today and she told me there is a girl bringing in a used 18" Omega wide tree (apparently they are quite popular there!) to sell. So she is going to look it over and they will decide on a price and it might come with fittings etc. I will know by the weekend. She also just got in new catalogues, the price of the Omega went up a bit from when we last spoke so she is going to email me later today with all the info. #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Happy/21.gif"#ed_cl# whew i can't wait to get it! my 3rd biggest purchase #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Happy/15.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Didn't see the reply till now! I love wintecs! I have the CC and I find it really comfy, plus it fits my ever-changing horses. I want a Wintec Dressage Pro (or Isabelle, but they're expensive) because I don't have an indoor arena, so I have to ride in all weather (rain, etc. damamges my leather saddles I find). I also like the equisuede because it's grippy and I am training a bunch of horses so it"ll help me stay in the saddle instead of on the ground. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
