#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Lix, the Carson's auctions up in Listowel are reputable. I don't believe there are meat trucks there. The people who are buying, are buying riding horses. I have a bottom line price that I would take for Dali and I won't let him go if I don't get that price at the auction. And believe me, my bottom-line price is waaay higher than what the current meat prices are. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I had the same reservations about taking Dali to Carson's as those you mentioned. I was worried about taking him up there and not knowing what might happen to him, but the BO and a couple other people assured me that if someone is paying decent money for a horse, the likelihood is that they will take good care of him. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Besides, one way or another, regardless of *which* option I use to sell him, once he's gone, I won't have any control over what happens with him anyway. There's nothing to say that a private person won't buy him and *then* sell him for meat down the road...not that this is likely to happen, but you know what I'm saying? Any time you sell a horse, you really don't know where they're gonna end up. It's the risk you take when you decide to sell.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#As far as how the Carson's auctions work, he publishes a catalog, so people can go online ahead of the sale, to see the horses that will be at the auction. Then, at the auction, each horse has its own "stall" and buyers can walk around and look at them. There is also a warm-up ring, where people ride their horses before they go into the auction ring. Dali is so flashy that I'm sure someone will scoop him up.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Taking him to the auction will only happen if I've had no interest in him by the next sale. He needs to go and he'll get lots more exposure at the auction than he will by me just posting on-line ads. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
