Postby dazzling » Wed May 18, 2005 12:25 am

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I have a filly that I need to sell (I don't #ed_op#EM#ed_cl#want#ed_op#/EM#ed_cl# to, but that's another story).#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#She will finish 17.2hh and has lovely gaits, a good temperament and well-placed markings.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Is the market still good in the US for such beasties? She would do well in any English discipline.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Lots of people like a nice coloured horse for showing, and the fact that she will mature over 17 will help a lot. Many people won't want her just because she is pinto, but there will be quite a few that will.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#there's definately a market, you just have to find it.. which will be the hard part!! a lot of people are starting to like the look of pintos, because they stand out from the regular bays and chestnuts that are found everywhere!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#hehe i have a grey and white pinto gelding, and everytime we take him off property, i get stopped a bunch of times by people comenting on his looks.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#What breed(s) is this foal. That can make a difference. How much was the stud fee and who is the father? What did he do or what can his get do? What did the mare do? Are his bloodlines popular?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Weigh all those out. I don't know details for this boy, but I would start at min. $1000. If he's say paint/TB or TB/draft I would start there. If he is a WarmbloodX I would put up the price considerably.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#But also look at your market. How much are people willing to pay for his breed/type? Are there many in the market now? What are they going for?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#His paint markings, if particularly flashy/fancy/eye catching may make him more desirable.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#EM#ed_cl##ed_op#FONT color=#609a9f size=2#ed_cl#All good points have been made above - especially Golden's remarks.#ed_op#BR#ed_cl##ed_op#BR#ed_cl#The best thing to do is to look around EC and maybe Equine to see what other people have put their prices on for foals of a similar breeding (ie. Warmblood crosses, Thoroughbreds, Draft crosses etc etc). to your little guy. That usually gives you an idea of what other people are looking for when selling their youngsters.#ed_op#BR#ed_cl##ed_op#BR#ed_cl#At the moment, I have a weanling colt that is by a Hanoverian out of a TB mare, I've got $5,000 on him, and someone is coming to pick him up today actually - I had a HUGE response to him. (Remember: I am in a different country too! lol).#ed_op#/FONT#ed_cl##ed_op#/EM#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thanks Golden; all good points!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#She has very eye-catching markings; bay with lots of white, but nicely balanced. She is CSHA registered and has lovely movement. I'll have a scout around the websites to give me an idea. Thanks!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
