What's it Worth?

Postby Rapla Farms » Sat Oct 29, 2005 12:02 am

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#SPAN class=postbody#ed_cl#Im looking at buying a used Stubben Schulteis dressage saddle. Its used (3 years - but Im wondering if that is how long this owner has had it and not its actual age, but I could be wrong), but the current owner has kept it in very good condition (never stored in the barn, cleaned regularly, etc). She is asking $1400. Its been restuffed, which could be a good or bad thing depending on if it fits my horse or not with the new stuffing. Just wondering if people think this is a good price or not. I have been having a hard time finding a stubben with the seat size I need (18") with a 31.5 tree. So, Im wondering if, for that reason alone, its worth spending the money. Im also having troubles finding other used Schulteis models to compare prices to, so that also might be reason enough to buy it. A regular used Stubben Tristen goes for around $700 - $1000. The Schulteis new (from what Ive found) goes for around $2000 - $2500. Just thought I would get some feedback before I do anything. #ed_op#/SPAN#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#SPAN class=postbody#ed_cl#TIA :)#ed_op#BR#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/SPAN#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I would just be careful of where she has gotten it re-stuffed. Stubben offers their own re-stuffing and custom changes to their saddles. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I dont think that that price is unreasonable. Stubbens are really great saddles and will last you forever. I have a stubben Imperator that is ancient and the leather is still soft and supple. It does need a re-stuffing though. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#If your interested in importing a saddle, you can get brand new stubbens from a germany dealer. They are really good, I inquired about some of their saddles and they offered if I sent some paper cut outs of xenas back shape, they would find a saddle that would fit her. Plus the saddle is brand new no re-stuffing of anything.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#A href="http://www.saddles-online.de/"#ed_cl#http://www.saddles-online.de/#ed_op#/A#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
When something goes wrong in a show, it's actually the best time because you learn from it. You ask yourself 'what can I do better?' When everything goes OK, you don't ask yourself that question --- ANKY
