Updated Pics of Eja

Postby Dee22 » Wed Aug 24, 2005 6:52 pm

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Hey guys, just thought I would add some new pics of Eja... for those of you who don't know. I bought Eja July, 2004 and she had been just sitting in a feild for about 2 years after having a baby. She was over weight and lacked muscle. She had a pretty dull coat, terrible hooves, callus's on her mouth (very hard mouth due to harsh hands and harsh bits) and generally did not look like a happy girl.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#We've had some problems along the way which have set us back quite a bit (she came with terrible thrush which made her lame for almost 2 months during the winter), and just this Spring she was off for almost 2 months due to ulcers in her nose. SO.... this is what she looks like now!! :) I'm quite pleased!! :)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I know my riding doesn't look wonderful, I've had a total of 2 lessons since I bought Eja over a year ago and I see some major things I need to work on!! I also know that Eja's 'form' isn't the greatest either but she's starting to come along. I still have her in the hackamore as she is very happy in it at the moment. We will try switching back to a bit in the fall. For now, we're just having some fun together :) Oh and we're finally doing some nice canter work and she's not trying to take off on me LOL!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/Dee1981/Barn2005_0824_162923AA.jpg"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/Dee1981/Barn2005_0824_163011AA.jpg"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/Dee1981/Barn2005_0824_163134AA.jpg"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/Dee1981/Barn2005_0824_163635AA.jpg"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/Dee1981/Barn2005_0824_163809AA.jpg"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

She is nice Dee!!! I can see her all muscled up and doing some super nice dressage! She certainly looks a lot happier now than what you described her as before -- well done on her, I'm sure you'll have in a bit and accepting it well soon!</font>

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Such a pretty girl, and look at that shine on her&nbsp;:) She does look like a completely different horse from the pictures you posted when you first got her, so I agree well done!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thanks guys! :) I think we're on our way! :) #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Xena - yes, I guess she is a big girl :) I tend not to notice because I was used to Mopars HUGE size but even though Eja is only 16.1H She still has a big body, big bone, thick neck etc. #ed_op#BR#ed_cl##ed_op#BR#ed_cl#I have been keeping a record of her weight loss since I got her. I just use a weight tape and although it's not very accurate, it's still a good comparison to see how much she's lost. When I got her she was 1342 lbs and when I weighed her last night she was 1185 lbs YAY! :)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I think I will get the nutritionist in soon so he can tell me what a good weight is for her&nbsp;to be... than once we get to that weight I will switch her off of her 'diet' food (only 2% fat and 20% protein) and onto a 'maintenance' feed. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Anyway, thanks again for the compliments guys! :) I'm very happy with her right now! #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#She looks GREAT, Dee!!&nbsp; #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I have to ask you though, why are you wearing a helmet if you're not going to bother strapping it onto your head???&nbsp; Where is the chin harness??#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thanks Chenders :)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#&nbsp;#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Uhm, yeah... the chin strap was annoying the hell out of me so it got taken off.... hey, at least I have something on my head right? #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys//smiley5.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#BR#ed_cl#Edited to add... if I could find a helmet that didn't make me look like the Great Gazoo, that had a nice soft chin strap and didn't cost the earth... I'd be wearing it... but I haven't had such luck yet, so I stick with what I have.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

She's got draft in her? Wow -- I would have sworn you'd just picked her up from Germany or somewhere like that!!! She doesn't look drafty at all!! Very elegant!</font>

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thanks DM -&nbsp;I love my draft crosses!! They have great temperaments, they're easy keepers... they pretty much do it all!#ed_op#BR#ed_cl#My last horse was a 17.2H 1/2 Clyde 1/2 TB, he looked more like 3/4 Clyde but he could really jump!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I needed something a little more refind this time around though ;) He was a monster LOL#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
