Some of you may remember my first horse, Leo. I donated him several years ago to Pride Stables, a local therapeutic riding facility. One of the girls who volunteers there sent me these pics that she took yesterday:

Leo will be 26 or 27 (I have to check this year). I think he looks pretty good...very fat and furry :)

Aww, he's looking good! I wouldn't think he was that old at all. That was very nice of you to donate him. I'm sure he's helping to improve quality of life for a lot of people.

Leo is very valuable to Pride because he can carry the larger/heavier riders. I did try to get him back several years ago and the instructors there were panicking about possibly losing him...they told me that there would be students who would not be able to get therapy because Leo was the only horse big enough to carry them. So I changed my mind because taking him back would have been too selfish when I knew he could be so much more useful as a therapy horse. I do still miss him though. My dream is to get him back someday when he is ready to be retired from their program but they assured me that when that day comes, he will just stay at Pride, which is probably the best thing for him, as it is his home now.

Leo looks very healthy & content chenders! I can see how you would miss him ... he's a real cutey pie! It was good of you to let him continue in his therapy work and help those kids keep riding!

I used to volunteer at Pride Stables, and Leo was one of my favorite horses to work with. :D

Are you allowed to visit him? Is he close? If so, what if you went up once a week to just visit him and give him an extra special grooming?

Yes, he is close, and yes, I can go and visit him. But I don't. He is a part of my past, and seeing him is always hard for me because I would like to be able to get him back. But it is not in the cards to be able to do this.

I may go for a visit since it has been a long time. I am happy when I get pics though because I can see that he is being taken good care of, so that gives me peace of mind.
