AH!! YUK! Trust me, I've tried the evil green vege and they are gross! LOL, I'm the type of person that will usually eat things even if I don't really like them... but noooo, not the sprouts!

I've hated them since childhood, my parents used to make me eat them when they were for dinner... my brother used to tease me and say if I didn't eat them I'd have to eat them for breakfast... one morning when I was about 4 or 5 (i will never forget this), my mom asked me if I wanted a soft boiled egg for breakfast... I came upstairs to eat, here I am cracking the shell of the egg all happy to be stuffing my face... brother and his friend staring at me intently... I lop the top off my egg and...... WWWAAAAHH! A green brussel sprout has taken the place of my yolk!!

My brother had cut the bottom from the egg, scopped the yolk out, put the green ball of nastyness inside and set it back in the cup <IMG src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> I have *never* touched a brussel sprout since <IMG src="smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0"> I can't even stand the smell<IMG src="smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0">

FWIW, I don't mind brussel sprouts...but they can't be overcooked <IMG src="smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0">
When I was little, my g-mother lived with us and did all the cooking because my mom worked outside the home.  Well, lemme say that my g-mother was NOT a good cook.  Every supper, we had boiled potatoes, cooked to within an inch of their lives.  And the vegetables were ALWAYS waaay overcooked...mushy and GREY!! <A href="http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZRxdm185XXUS" target="_blank"><IMG alt=Vomit src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_119.gif" border="0"></A>As a result, I hated MOST vegetables.  Dessert was always the reward for making it through supper!
It wasn't until I moved out and got married, and my hubby started cooking veggies, that I learned that they can actually taste GOOD and didn't need to be grey and mushy.  Now, I love ALL veggies, even brussel sprouts.  The only veggie I still cannot stand is peas.  Yuck!  I will have an everlasting and abiding hatred for those vile things!

I know I'm weird, but my favourite veg from when I was a wee tyke has always been spinach, so I guess it's not a big leap that I also like Brussels Sprouts.
