Me three! ;)

Talk about anything that catches your fancy, not necessarily horse-related. Just sit back, get comfortable and chat with friends.

Lix, your ceremony sounds wonderful. Just one word of wisdom, tho. We had ours at the end of August, and had some gorgeous pictures taken, some with red smears on my neck.....I was slapping mosquitoes as fast as the photographer could take the pictures . Luckily there were enough that turned out without the extra colour.
We had to go with that date as opposed to September because of the guests as well, what with school starting, etc. Most of our guests were from across the country, so we had to accommodate, as they 'made' the wedding & following party for us.
We almost overlooked the best spot of all for the reception, in the small local hotel. It didn't look like much on the outside, but had a gorgeous dining room overlooking a bay, and the chef (owner's son) just happened to have been a chef at one of the top restaurants in the province. Who'd a thunk it! And the cost was much less than what you were quoted, as the family had just bought the business and were trying to build it. So there are great surprises in small packages
Have fun and good luck!

Congrats Lix! That is so awesome! Jon and I still haven't set a date..... I'm draggin my butt. Setting a date means making plans..... I have ZERO desire for a traditional, lots of people wedding, but my mom is all for that.
Your wedding sounds awesome. That would be something like what I'd want, but keep the reception in the barn... I'm all for the KISS principal! I don't want to spend a lot of $$ on mine.

That's terrific and the wedding plans sound great so far. My sister did the tent thing in my aunt's backyard for both wedding and reception and it worked out well, but I know it would have been expensive had my brother-in-laws brother not owned the tent company.

Katie! Mosquitos! What a great warning, specially in a woodsy area. We'll have to include "Please vear le OFF scent for ze vedding!" in the wedding invitations! LOL

MnR - I know what you mean about keeping it simple. That's exactly what I want and I REALLY don't want to spend alot of money. I mean, it's just a day, and I'm not going to go into a whole bunch of extras when I could be putting that money to better use (aka. on the big mortgage, LOL) But at the same time, I want it to be special and I don't want my guests leaving early cause my reception stinks! That's why I wanted something a notch up from a community centre for the reception just so that people can maybe sleep where the reception is (lots of 'out of towner's') and have a cozier atmoshphere. A maple shack or something or some type of country inn would be fine. If there were any. My sister who is on the Quebec side had a reception at this great log-house inn and it was cheap and awesome. And so cozy in there!

Ruth, does it get humid in those big tents at night? I don't want everyone leaving cause they are cold!

Junebug! I so thought of that! Bringing her over! It's only 11 houses! (albeit farm properties!) hehe! But I don't know how to incorporate a horse into a wedding. LOL I know I would LOVE to have her in some of the wedding pics so either I will bring her over, or I will be at your place, wedding dress and all, taking pics after the wedding. LMAO, can you imagine me at the barn in my wedding dress.

<edited><editID>Lix</editID><editDate>38397.5788078704</editDate></edited>

My sister's wedding was in the morning and the reception was a lunch one so it was fine. I did go to a night-time tent one a few years back and other than the mosquitoes (I had luckily worn "eau de Muskol") it was fine.

Yes, lol, Lix with the uninvited guests . We had my old gelding pull the carriage, but since Meeka doesn't do this on a regular basis, that may get a bit exciting... .
I did want a 'close up' picture of us and him, tho, so after all the 'official' pictures were taken, we spread a blanket on his back and several guys hoisted me up sidesaddle/bareback. It was a very elegant move....I drive, not ride for a very good reason.....no balance! LOL ...anyway, we got some wonderful shots without my dress getting dirty at all. Honest, if I can do that, anyone can!
Maybe Meeka can share your day that way

OMG! CONGRATZ LIX!!!!

I feel so dumb, I thought that the title for this thread ws some kinda *you gotta be IN to get it*...so I was passing by it, thinking, ah well, I'm not IN THE KNOW...turns out I AM! hahaha Thanks Nikita, for telling me!!

I'm soo happy for you!!!!! Have you thought about your dress?? or center pieces? or anything like that??

As for involving your pony, a friend of mine did some AMAZING pictures of her sitting bareback on her WHITE horse!! and even in the lake! At was just gorgeous! I want that, but sadly, my horse won't be anywhere near where I'm getting married!

Oh...and my friend also did a pic of her sitting on the horse, and the hubby under a HUGE tree, as she was walking over to him.....just like in a Disney moving, (I remember seeing that exact scene in a disney movie, just can't remember which one......something tells me Sleeping Beauty...no wait...the one with the girl who is blond...and she sings in the forest....is that sleeping beauty????)

LOL anyways....congrats again!!!!!!!!! If you wanna share ideas.....I'm all up for that tooo!!

liiiiiixxxx.... LOVE the ideas AND the proposal AND the ring!!!! Are you sure you SO doesn't have a single brother?! really, really sure?! or long lost cousin?! I'm telling you, when I find a guy, I'm bringing him to C. so that he can train him.

My girlfriend had a great idea to include her horse in the wedding without having it be a big complicated deal: she got someone to clean up her horse and then they just showed up and took pictures with the horse and left.

I know how to groom!

ooooh, how I can't wait to go to the Lucky 7's.

(hey, when did they change some of the smiley's?! I go away for a little bit and the whole collapses?! geez.)

Thanks again for the congrats.

That's neat about incorporating the horse but I think I will be too on edge to actually get on her back. I can just imagine a horse seeing a big noisy, white wedding dress (not that it's really my style) and letting that big atrocity on their back. LOL I like the idea of the horse just coming over for the pictures.

Rickie! LOL, that's ok. It was a strange title anyway. But odly enough, one of the first things I thought after he proposed. You know you are addicted to EC when... LOL

Creepy what you described about your friend. I went to a wedding in July where the bride did the exact same thing, white horse, lake, etc. This didn't happen to be in the New Liskeard area by any chance?

So when is your date rickie? Do you have alot planned already?

Not sure about the dress/centerpieces, etc. All I know is that I want the dress to be VERY simple, but elegant at the same time. I don't want a big fluffy thing. I've never actually seen what I picture in my head so I hope I don't have trouble finding it. How about you?

1 thing I want to do is instead of a guest book, put out a scrapbook and a polaroid and have people take pics of themselves, put it in the book, and write a message offering their best "marriage" advice.

I did a quick list yesterday and it would be about 50 people for the acutal ceremony and dinner and then another 50 for the party. I really don't want something too big.

Oh, and Abbey, you made the cut for the first 50, and you are not holding a horse either.

OMG Lix...you know MEL!!! Ya, that's my friend...well I can never seem to get a hold of her, and I haven't seen her in a while, but ya we were riding buddies, when she boarded at my barn! She's fun! The 1st time I met her, was before she came to our barn (but we knew she was comming, jsut hadn't met her in person) and my stb fell over with me on her, and broke my foot.......and since she works int he x-ray department........we still laugh at how we 1st met! hahaha! I miss Mel!

Anyways.....for my wedding, my sis and I went dress shopping this past weekend, just too look at styles, and stuff, to see what I liked.....I found 2 dresses that I like.......hmm I should post them.....later when I get back from school....
I don't have a date yet, but I want September 2006 (fall wedding) I have my colors picked out, and my center pieces.....we've looked at halls, and have decided where we're having our dinner and reception, just not the actual cerimony.....I know where I WANT to have it, but it's a bit too small......Ah well, we'll see! We're working on the guest list stuff now. We did a short one in our heads 2 weekends ago, and it's about 85 people....so not too big!

Oh I'm excited! Let me know if you want some really nice dress webcites, the place I went to try some one, gave me web addresses!! WooT WooT for wedding chat!!!

Lix, I *totally* think that you should train Meeka how to drive...and then have her pull your wedding carriage!! She IS half-draft...she SHOULD be able to pull
It would be sooo awesome to have your very own horsey as part of the wedding party! You've got LOTS of time to train her, if you're not getting married until Aug 2006.
If you don't want to go that route, then you should for sure get pics with her, at least. You could get her all groomed up and put ribbons and flowers in her mane, and then you and hubby could go and have pics done with her when you're all gussied up in your wedding duds.
Heck, if I lived closer, I'd take care of getting Meeka all ready for you!! It'd be a blast!

Oooo oooh! Yes, please send over wedding dress sites or any other cool wedding sites you have!!! I really need them. I acutally had to look of the definition of bridesmaid and maid of honnor this morning to know the difference. It's going to be a long journey of wedding planning isn't it? LOL!

OMG!!!! YES, it was her! How cool! I'm actually far away from her but she is my bf, uh, I mean fiancé's relative (he is the cousin of J -the groom). Were you at the wedding? It was so beautiful! But too bad it rained... Such a small world! I'm not sure if she had her baby... I haven't seen her since the summer at the cottage. If you are from that area, maybe you know my bf's family. They are all up there. Anyway, those pictures with the horse were to die for!

Oh cool, so what's your colors? What do you want for the ceremony? Indoor or outdoor? Hehe, it's the opposite for me. I know where I want the ceremony but I don't know where I want the dinner and reception. LOL I was so discouraged last night when I saw prices for different reception things. I found one that I'm considering, it's at a big farm where the do this type of thing. Renting the big reception room is 450$ but that's the place where the plates are 39$. All in all, it would be about 2500$ (not counting booze and not counting the acutal ceremony and extras).

Are you inviting all the same people to the wedding and then reception or are you inviting extra people for the reception?

I so don't know how to do things.

Will you be spending the night before the wedding apart from your fiancé?

Oooh chenders! Too bad you are not closer!

So cute what you said about her "being in the wedding party". Awwwww! Adorable!

It would be cool if she knew how to drive already or if I knew a 'driving' expert. Something to consider, depending how hard it is to get a horse to do that.

I love what you said about flowers and ribbons in the mane!!!! OMG! It would be SOOOO pretty for the pictures! Oh, I'm writting that one down chenders!

LIX!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
OMG this is so exciting!!
So Wedding Plans for me -- Invitation is picked, Date is Picked, (October 7, 2006) And i'll see if I can find a pic of my invitation, and how I want it set up.
Aaand what else. I havent been dress shopping yet, but I know what I want for the Flower girls and the bridesmaids (and junior bridesmaid) There are a few reception spots I have to check out still. We're pretty sure we've picked a photographer, decided on no Videographer and I'm going to carry Lilies.
We're getting married in a church, however, my cousin cant marry us, so I'm trying to contact the priest that was my conformation sponsor and see if he can marry us, But I'm not sure if that'd be possible, and could get a little expensive for us. We'd have to fly him in from Manitoba. I may just ask Father Joe, who married my older 2 siblings and baptized my god-daughter.
ANYWAY, still lots of decisions.
OH! And Bombonieres, we have a few ideas for those -- I've narrowed it down to a few things lol
1.) Go to a Winery and get Small (like 3 glasses of wine) Bottles of Wine with Custom Labels & a Wine Opener. We have an engraver renting out the back of my dad's Building, so I can get a deal on the Wine Openers. I was also thinking of having my own wine made -- my family makes this AWESOME Apple wine, it's so yummy., Everyone thats tried it has liked it a LOT and it looks like "normal" wine.
2.) Clay Pots w' Forget me not Seeds (And the dirt disc) With a little Thank You Tag that reads something along the line of "May your flowers grow as our love will always"
3.) Tea Light Holders w' Tealight
#2 & 3 would be hand made from a potter from my town. She does exquisite work! And everyone would have an original Piece!
I just want to give out something that people will actually want to use and enjoy, I dont want them to throw them out or sell them at a garage sale because they dont remember where they got it.
lol Okay, I'll stop, I always get so excited talking about this stuff though!! heehhe

Otay...lix here we go! GG will have to get in here, and help you out! she has a million sites! But here are the ones that they gave me when I went to a bridal store this past weekend!

www.rayliadesigns.com
www.moreilee.com
www.ianstuart.com
www.bony.com
www.rayliabridal.com
www.maggiesottero.com

No I wasn't at the wedding.......I haven't even talked to her since she got married, I drive be her apartment (unless she's moved) and never see her car, so I don't go up.......that's it, I'm going to go into see her at work next time I'm home! SO yes I live in that area....1 hr North of NL actually. ANs I agree....those pics were just AMAZING!! My coach specially asked for a couple of them...and I got to see them there!

Ok, so my colors, since I'm getting married in late September 2006, I'm doing Deep Red (like the color of a deep red rose) with Gold accent.
For my ceremony I want to have it in the Museum, but I'm not sure it'll hold enough people (it holds about 60-80, I think we'll have closer to 85), but it'll be indoors! the grounds are just to die for!
The reception and dinner I've picked the place, it'll be in a hall that's just been re-dun, in this really run down nasty building, but the hall is just GORGEOUS! tall ceilings, with a balcony type of thing when the coat racks and washrooms are....that is wooden on the dance/eating area side of the balcony....just looks sooo old style and gorgeous! And they have tool (is that how you spell it...ya know that mess-ish kinda material) strung from all 4 corners joining in the middle where the hanging light is...and they do baloon arches if you want it. The walls are light pink, and the ceiling light green, oh and the ceiling is arched, not just square. hmm I think that's enough description.

I know what you mean by dinner costing soo much....I've priced on place so far for that stuff.

As for inviting, Scott (fiance) and I were planning on having just family and close friends to the ceremony and dinner, and then lots of others to the reception, but when we actually sat down and talked about it, were theren't alot of people that we wanted to come to the reception that we didn't want comming to the ceremony.....so I doubt there will be a difference, but that could change in the next year!

We're planning on being apart the night before, He doesn't want to have anything to do with my dress at all......he didn't even want to see the one that I tried on this past weekend (well a picture of it anyways) and it was the one that I didn't even like that much! Ha...I laughed at him!

Anyways......if ya need any help, or have any questions, feel free to ask.....but GG is WAY better at this than I am! She's helped me out SOOO much!
