Just curious as a friend and I were talking about this tonight. Personally, I abhore poor table manners lol The licking fingers, holding utensils wrong, burping at the table, eating with your hands...makes my stomach turn literally.
I'll share my story : I used to date this one guy and finally went to his house for dinner one night. We were eating pork chops and this damned dog of his was begging and whinning at the table. SO i am doing my best to be polite and ignore it when all of a sudden this guy picks up his fork, spears the meat, and holds it out to the dog ON THE END OF THE FORK!! Then he continued to eat with it!! I was literally sick and needless to say that was the late date

I went with "chewing with open mouth" too. I figure, belching and farting are natural bodily functions...not that this means that it's okay to do these things at the table, but chewing with one's mouth open is just a sign of poor upbringing, IMO. It reminds me of a cow at the trough, chewing it's cud
Oh, and the dog eating off the fork thing...I'll bet that date of yours wasn't the only person who's ever done THAT

Yeah, I don't like any of the above either, so I couldn't pick!
Chenders - I TOTALLY agree with you on the dog eating off the fork thing.....that literally turns my stomach...when I see people eating ice cream, and they let their dog have a lick, then they lick right over that same spot?!?!?!?!

I CAN'T STAND people who eat with their mouths open. It makes me sick. I once knew someone who did and would talk at the same time and food and spit would fly and hit the person they were talking too. I'm getting queasy just thinking about it.

I put farting because, well, anything to do with the other end is just WRONG at the table.

But they're all intolerable, if there was an all of the above, I'd take it.

You forgot nose picking, that really gets me.

    I must agree with GD.
I will fess up to sharing food with the dog (never from the table though), but didn't usually do that in front of other people because I know that it does gross people out. However, unless the dog has just been doing or eating something disgusting it doesn't bother me. Now that you all think I'm a weirdo I'll end this post.

I am somewhat fussy and would have to agree that eating with an open mouth gets to me. I also can't stand the sound effects that you sometimes hear (smacking, sucking etc.). Flatulence and burping at the table are also big "faux pas" with me.

I chose bad table manners because this would include, IMO, chewing with mouth open, poor utensil use, belching. Don't like the others either. Am a bit prissy.

I don't think any of the above belong at the table and if I'd done any of them when I was younger I would get a talking to... or any of the burping or farting, probably a smack upside the head

I DID choose chewing with mouth open because it really is annoying I also can't stand when people 'slurp' when they drink... I know sometimes it happens but I have a friend that constantly slirps everytime she takes a sip of a drink and it drives me NUTS

My sister had a guy break up with her because she scraped her teeth against her fork when she took it out of her mouth... since she told me that's why he broke up with her... well... it makes me notice it more and it kind of bothers me LOL... but I sometimes also, find myself doing it by accident.
