This morning's drive in

Postby Foxie » Mon Mar 07, 2005 8:47 am

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#You guys won't believe what happened to me this morning!! I was driving into work (QEW) and this truck lost the plastic tarp. It flew into the air. He was in the slow lane and I was in the middle lane. I tried to avoid it but I couldn't change lanes so I had to RUN OVER IT!!! S** OF A B***H!!!#ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Angry/6.gif"#ed_cl# I pulled over, he pulled over and another truck pulled over. I was sooo shaky. I got out inspected my car and thank god it looks ok. I got Dumb A**es info just in case. I was like " You trying to murder someone today!!" "What if the tarp covered the top of my car?" #ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Angry/4.gif"#ed_cl#I don't even want to imagine that.#ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Word_Negative/12.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I pulled away and not 2 km futher on the shoulder is some poor guy pulling this sheared tarp out from underneth his car. It was all tangled in with his tires and stuff. My car made it to work no problem. I'm thinking of taking it in the my mechanic to get it checked out just to be on the safe side. The really scary part was standing on the QEW with cars doing 100km wizzing by.#ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys/Other/27.gif"#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Whew! that would be a scary thing to happen, and like you say, the traffic would be zooming by you without the least concern for you or the other stopped cars. I guess it was too dangerous for the owner of the tarp to risk life and limb to try and retrieve that tarp. Glad that you and your car were ok. And that other poor shmuck who ended up with tarp reminents in his undercarriage....will he ever get that all out...? #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Thank goodness you are ok. I don't blame you for being angry, there's
nothing like a shock to get the adrenaline pumping and you just have to
yell or cry to let it out!!#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

I hate driving the major highways behind or even next to those trucks
that are piled high with stuff. I was just behind and to one side of
one the other day when one of his long tie down straps came loose and
was flapping along the side of his truck and into the next lane. Thank
goodness he realized really fast and was able to pull over. I didn't
know whether to slow down so I was well behind or try to speed up to
get past him. No telling what was in the truck that was no longer
securely anchored.#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Ooof! Scary indeed! I remember driving home from Oakville (years ago), 3 of us in a pickup. A piece of rebar (steel rod) came off of a truck in front of us, directly at us! Fortunately, my ex was able to dodge it but my heart was pounding - so I know #ed_op#EM#ed_cl#exactly#ed_op#/EM#ed_cl# how you felt. Glad to hear nothing worse happened.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
