#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Thank you all - great ideas.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Keetee - I like yours best. What would you all think 2 prizes: top score of the morning, and then top score of the afternoon? I don't know what you would call this prize. Ideas?#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#It would be nice to give prizes for the top scores of each levels, but unfortuantley, from the perspective of trying to gather up all these prizes, I fear that it would be pushing it! (for me anyways - it's hard enough to get 3 prizes wihtout making it one per level)#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Tabby - I'm just about to do the times for our next show - next Sunday - and I'm going to see if I can do whta you suggest - all the Jr, then the AA and finally the Opens. I'll let you know how that goes. (any complaints will be referred to you (hehe)).#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#We have been giving the ribbons along with tests at the completion of the class, but would it be too much to ask the morning competitors to stay for the noon presentation, and then the afternoon competitors to stay for the end of day presentation (all unmounted, BTW)? We used to do this years ago, and it did make it a nicer award presentation. I know a lot of the riders liked this because it added prestige to winning. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I am very much appreciating everyone's input....#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

I remember when you used to do this and I quite liked the idea. I think people would stick around...I know I would.

Looking forward to the show no matter what you decide. See you next Sunday!

When I last competed, I was in the very enviable position of being only
a 5 min. drive for the two venues that were holding a "series"
competition. It was really quite nice to be able to finish my
test(s), go home, take care of my horse, check on things at home and
then return to pick up my test, ribbon and/or prize.#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

As a competitor, I certainly appreciate every prize dollar and award I
have received. If it is clearly stated in the prize list that
competitors are to be present (and mounted or not) for awards
ceremonies (and when they will be held; at lunch, after Class #32,
etc.) I have found that 90% of those receiving prizes will be there (or
their rep if no mount is required).#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Many, many years ago, I had a 3-4 hour wait at a year-end championship
(over 1 hour of which was spent sitting on my horse as there were rain
delays and trouble with the sound system and we kept getting called to
the ring and then sent back). Anyway, it was clearly set out that
all Champions and Reserves were to be mounted to receive their awards
at the END of the show day. After getting my award, I had to
untack, get dressed in non-show clothes and haul 2 1/2 hours
home. It was a very long day, but definitely worth it.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#If you are going to do that and have two top scores you could just call them morning top score and afternoon top score. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Well as an organizer that has done both H/J and Dressage shows, EC has mostly nailed it on the head.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#For our dressage shows, we limit presentations to pick up your ribbon when the class is announced to (a) save everyone time and (b) allow more rides in the ring that aren't held up with presentations. It's not that we want to do it this way but when most people are riding two tests, we found that many were in the middle of warm up for their next ride/class. And it's not like anyone showed up with the horse in tow.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Also, you really can't expect people to hang out waiting for Division championships and high score awards when a division could take all morning and half the afternoon to complete.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#We do present prize money but you get this when you turn your number in so that you can sign that you've received it. Trophies / awards are saved for year end and are very clearly displayed during the show so that people are aware that "bonus" stuff is coming. It is understood that shipping out is not always at the call of the rider so we are happy to hold the awards for you to pick up when you are next in the neighborhood. We've all but given up on getting pictures to pass along to our sponsors.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#SO in an effort to keep everyone happy and to make the day as painless as possible, we will continue to provide all the usual show awards in a fashion that meets the needs of everyone's schedule. What we thought of doing, is setting up a photo-op area that people can go and take their own photos with ribbons etc, as a momento of the day and their success.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
