Despite having ridden him for a few years, she's only recently aquired him as her own and isn't completly sure of all the things that need to be updated. What type of information should she ask her farrier/vet/ current stable owner/ new stable owner( ie type of feed, type of hay etc etc) in order to make sure that the transition between barns is a smooth one with little complications.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/SPAN#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

When changing stables it is a good idea to mark down the name brand of
the feed and the make-up (% of protein, fibre, etc.) as well as the
number of times the horse was fed and the quantity.  It is even
better if you can bring some of the feed with you (or buy some) so that
the horse can adjust slowly.  Other details like amount of turnout
and type (individual, group), any special needs such as
booting/blanketing/medications/watering hay/etc. should also be noted
and given/told to the new stable manager.  Hopefully any special
needs have been discussed with the new stable already.  Likely the
horse will need a Coggins test, vaccination history and maybe worming
history for the new stable manager and the vet.  For the farrier,
if the horse has special shoes then you could ask the farrier if he has
any advice for future farriers...  Lots of horses show up at
stables without any information and the new stable figures it out over
time so it's best to have all the details down but if they aren't
available, things will work themselves out as long as the new stable
manager is knowledgeable.
