Upcoming Dressage Clinic - Sunday March 7th

Postby IronHorse » Tue Feb 09, 2010 3:47 pm

We are very excited to announce that Rebecca Schoenhardt will be coming to teach at Bayus Stables located just outside of Ayr and Plattsville south of Kitchener, on Sunday March 7th.

Rebecca Schoenhardt has a reputation for professionalism, clear and positive communications, patience as a coach and trainer, and a knack for bringing out the best of difficult horses.

Rebecca began riding at age 7 as a hunter/jumper. Before concentrating exclusively on dressage, she rounded out her riding education in show jumping, hunter, fox-hunting, trail riding, Eventing and Pony Club. But all that changed with the purchase of Red Fury, a green-broke 5 year old.

Although learning with a green horse can be challenging, a lack of experience did not prevent Rebecca training 'Red' to the FEI level. They competed at two North American Young Rider Championships, and captured the Young Rider Champion and Reserve Champion titles at two consecutive National Championships. As a result, they were twice named to the Canadian Dressage Team long list and were recipients of the Canadian Sport Horse Dressage Performance Award. After graduating university, Rebecca combined two Scholarships to pursue an 18 month training period in Germany. There she and Red Fury had their Grand Prix debut, garnering a spot on the Canadian Dressage Team Short list.

Since returning home, Rebecca has trained two more horses to the FEI level. She piloted the unruly and opinionated Kolliander II to 65% scores at Prix St. Georges before his career-ending injury. The next challenging pupil was the strong Dutch warmblood Pele, with whom she has competed for two seasons at the Grand Prix level. An upcoming partnership sees Rebecca paired with Fabius Tyme, showing in 2010 at the Advanced Division.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics, and spent many years developing and managing leadership training programs for the YMCA. She continued to develop those leadership skills as Equine Canada’s representative to AthletesCAN. This gives her a strong background for coaching, where highlights include developing two Adult Amateur students to successful Prix St.Georges competitors. Her students hold many Provincial, Regional, and Division Championships at Training through Fourth Levels.

In 2009 Rebecca became an Equine Canada “Recorded” Dressage Judge. She has written articles about training, dressage, and acted as the English language ghost writer for World Champion Anky Van Grunsven in publications like Horse Sport, Equine Lifestyles, and Cadora INK. In addition, she volunteers for both grass-roots and high-performance dressage committees.
