Schooling or Trillium (dressage)?

Postby panzita0 » Wed Apr 14, 2010 11:23 pm

I'm thinking about going Trillium... I showed two years ago with my horse at schooling and we did quite well in walk trot and training level.

Benifits:
build my name if i'm successful
make my horse worth more (not that he'll be for sale he's a keeper)
show at trillium (it does have a certain ring to it )

Cons/Risks
have to spend double the money for registering for all the extra ****
spend more on show closes and tack
get laughed out of the ring (my horse is a standy, and my current saddle is synthetic)

...So tell me more, what did I miss in my pros and cons list? I've never shown Trillium so any hints ideas and suggestions much appreihated!

Thanks!

I've never shown trillium either but I don't agree that you'll get laughed out of of the ring for your horse being a standardbred or having synthetic tack! Lots of riders show in wintecs and other synthetic brands so I wouldn't worry about that and if you did well at the schooling show level with your standardbred then then there's no reason to think you'll get laughed out of the ring for that either! Sure the competition will be a bit steeper but put in a solid accurate test and you'll scores will reflect that.
