So now that I have gotten over my cold Im back at the gym and loving it! Two of my best friends have joined my gym so its great motivation to go there! And I have just started to train to do the Times Colonist 10k run which is in April. Our local paper sponsors this run for charity. Our corporation is putting together a team so Im going to participate. After my usual workout last night I did my first run (one of the local running shops here put a training schedule into the newspaper to help people train). So my first run (on the treadmill) was 7 min running, 1 minute walking 3 times over. It went very well, I was running a 10 minute mile which isnt great but its not bad considering I had just completed an entire workout before i ran. So all in all Im pretty happy with myself.... anyone else have any good stories?

I keep meaning to start running again, but it hasn't happened yet. Did get out and ride two days in a row on the weekend but now the rain has set in .
Sounds like you're doing good, though.

Oh, to be young again, eh Ruth?? I'm tired from reading 12th's post too
I am feeling like a huge blob these days...although the scale says otherwise (I'm still going down). I have not ridden more than a handful of times during the past month and have been doing nothing else for exercise
I decided yesterday to take the lazy person's route and signed up for EMS sessions at the weight-loss clinic I've been going to. Basically, they hook up a whole buncha pads that run electric jolts through my muscles and stimulate them. A one-hour session is supposed to be the equivalent of a 9-hour workout, so I've signed up for 13 sessions. It's great...I lay there and let the machines do all the work
I've lost almost 46 pounds now so it's time to start toning all the flab. I really need to look into an alternative form of exercising though...although one of these days, I'm hoping to get back into a regular riding routine again. But when I don't ride, I do nothing else! I really want to try Aquafit.

oooo, great plans!
Good for you 12th! Running is great (although I may be a bit biased).
And good for you Chenders! You're doing great!
I have a track meet next Friday! AHHH! I know that I CAN do it, but don't feel particularly ready. I'm not really getting faster, mind you it is early in the seaon. Although, today I went for a 48min run. So yay for that, but I need to get myself running faster.

Glad you enjoy your workouts! That always makes it so much better to do.
I too would love to join a gym for their cardio kickboxing classes. I was at United Family for gym class and we did a class and OMG did it ever hurt! The instructor worked us hard! It felt so good afterward though to know that we had done all that work.
