I have to ask since for the life of me i can't remember any "causes" of bladder infections or Urinary tract infections! It isn't me that has it, it is the bf, and we know it isn't a std. If it weren't that we are both certifide clean that would be the first thing he'd be thinking it was(can you tell he is medically minded)
But anyways anyone know what any of the main causes of UTI's are??

Isn't it just when bacteria, often E-coli, gets into the urethra and moves up into the bladder causing an infection? I think thats the most common/simple cause for both men and women.

I think you right Kaleena, but it is usually harder for men to get them.
If its just the start of a bladder infection tell him to drink lots of cranberry juice it help cure them. My mom and sister get the sometimes and they drink cranberry, juice and sometime take pills that are just concertrated cranberry. Get them for the store. And it goes away.

Bladder infections are very nasty things...they take quite sometime to cure "naturally", and usually the discomfort and pain can be terrrible.
Cranberry juice does help (it's the acidity), along w/lots of water etc, but too truely cure a bladder infection, one must go to a doctor IMO, and get proper antibiotics or the infection has a way of always creeping back, and not truely being rid of the infection.
When I was a teenager, I had a bladder infection during final exams.., that sucked big time!!!

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Ok, this is going to sound intimate, but I work in medicine, so here goes some tips. Those individuals especially prone to getting bladder infections need to practice some extra regular cleanliness than the rest of us on a daily basis, especially where it comes to teeth brushing and hand washing after handling animals, after going to the washroom, etc., but especially before lovemaking. You and BF both need to make sure you brush your teeth and rinse your mouths with a high alcohol mouthwash, such as Listerine (it kills bacteria and mouths are full of it), and make sure hands are well scrubbed with antibacterial soap before you do the horizontal tango. Also, due to the nature of this activity.... natural friction ;) can cause a backlog of bacteria up the urethra... so try to pee afterwards so help flush out the urethra. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Drinking cranberry juice is great to help settle something once it starts, but preventative measures are better. Believe me, you do not want this travelling up to your kidneys because pyelonephritis is excruciatingly painful - mild cases will make your life miserable (peeing razor blades, back pain, pelvic pain), severe cases will land you in the hospital and worse case scenario is permanent damage to the kidney or losing the kidney entirely. !!! Do not mess with bladder infections!!! #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
Patience! Practice! Persistence!

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I used to (knock on wood) get UTI's ALL the time! So cranberry juice became a regular of mine(even though it's gross) especially before sex. I would try to pee before and after the act too! I would go to the Dr's cause pills are needed to get rid of infections. They have many kinds for UTI's. They have pain killers for them too which make you pee kool-aid orange!!!!!#ed_op#IMG src="http://forums.equestrianconnection.com/richedit/smileys//surprised.gif"#ed_cl# And cleanilness is a big factor. Even though he's a guy tell him to wipe after he's done peeing always! Urine is supposed to be clean but with bacteria it's not so clean! I hope your b/f gets better really quickly usually the pills are for 3-5 days and then the UTI is gone.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
