Postby Pretty_Pony72 » Mon May 09, 2005 5:23 pm

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Okay well im new here i found out about this place frm MacnRio, and theres a horse that we are going to get but get looked at by vet on Saturday. Now I was told today that he had cut himself on a fence and since he stayed outside no1 got a chance to see it and the mud got it infected. It caused him to be lame for a while i'm wondering if any of this sounds bad. Im thinking it'll go away and stuff but if anyone culd explain lameness to me and if you think it could come back. He is on stall rest right now. thanks everyone!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

You just need to keep the wound open. Use Betadine and warm water and
have a clean sponge and scrub it out. It will need to drain. You may
also need to talk to your vet about getting Nova-trimel if the vet
thinks its necessary. This is just an anti-biotic to help fight the
infection which your horse may need if it is young, old or not very
healthy. Or of course if the infection is that bad.
When something goes wrong in a show, it's actually the best time because you learn from it. You ask yourself 'what can I do better?' When everything goes OK, you don't ask yourself that question --- ANKY
