Gelding

Postby Hope03 » Thu Oct 27, 2005 12:46 pm

I have called a couple of vets offices for a quote on gelding a young colt and none of them will give me a quote because it depends on how much time it takes, what time of day and whatever. There is someone wanting to make a trade with me and wants to know how much it would cost to geld the horse. I just need a rough estimate on this, I am sure some of you have gelded a colt and hopefully you can help me out. Thanks in advance.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#When we did our guy, it was around the $200 mark as well, it was about 4 years ago, so don't really remeber, and perhaps he charges more now, who knows!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I'm surprised the vets don't give you a ballpark figure? My vet is really good about giving me estimates, he usually quotes me more, so that way when I get the bill, I'm pleased....sneaky fellow!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#It cost me $200/per horse and we had 3 done. It was 250/1st horse and $175 for every one after that...the more horses, the cheaper it was!! #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Thanks everyone! Our vets in this area are more into cows and I don't really trust them too much. I found one from another town for horses and they did quote me the same as what everyone is saying. Thanks again.
