My God he loves it!

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#It's been a while since I have seen this look.  But by GOD it's there in this guy!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Got a new (to me) TB cross in.  Was told "he can get a bit quick to his jumps".  Figured, "okay, someone has rushed his training, so he rushes his jumps.  No problem, we can fix that with some basics"  #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Had the munchkin get on him last night for some cross rails (I wanted to see what was going on where).  The minute he saw the jump, his eye pinned on it (they were still flatting to warm up) and when he thought he *might* be getting to a path for the jumps, he started to glow and vibrate.  This was NOT a fear vibration.  He was swerving INTO the jump, not away.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#This horse LOVES to lift his feet over obstacles!  Been a very long time since I've seen a horse that loves jumping this much!  When they finally did get to play, the look on his face was just priceless!  Talk about Christmas/candy/PD day all rolled into one!  #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I purposely asked munchkin to completely drop the reins three strides out - I wanted to see what he was going to do.  Other than perk his ears even further and pick a long take off... nada.  And he doesn't rush his jumps... he has a tremendously long stride so anything SEEMS like he's "on the move" but in counting tempo, nah, he's just not pittypatting in place.  If asked, I'm sure he could rumble!  #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I just can't get over the enjoyment this guy has... #ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Shelley  i got a big smile reading that! isn't it the most amazing thing to have a horse like that? That is How Rubel(my trak) is when i let him play on the xc, stadium he perks up tons for also.. but it is the kid in a candy shop look when he knows we are gonna play over xc. He gets the same look when he realises we are going to get to play with lengthen and shorten strides, and loves to practice flying changes!!! ...my leopard mare Patty is just like that....SHE LOVES TO JUMP! 
Even if I start setting up jumps in the arena for her to free jump
over, she will start jumping them by herself before I finish setting
them up!  I actually throw other horses out with her to learn to
free jump as she will get them to jump with her!#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
Her problem is riders who get tense & scared at the big forward
stride & hang on to her mouth...which pisses her off so then she
pulls against the tight reins....with a good confident light handed
rider she is amazing!#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
Her kids also have a natural love for jumping but not as much as mom!!#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
Those horses are 1 in a million!!#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

It's kinda funny because i do hunters with her but she prefers the jumpers so even if I cut a corner or something she like lets go!!!lol but she knows when I'm not comfortable or ready because she slows down and then will halt before the jump! I'm thankful for that cause she haas saved my but numerous of times!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#my mare loves to jump too, but only with me on her...shes not too much a fan of free jumping or i could just be terrible at it...but the ears perk, the stride lengthens and the pace quickens when a jump is put infront of her. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Thats exactly what my tb gelding is like!!! he will run up to a jump
when we are warming up and be like... please mom?? lol The one time we
were jumping a line 3 stride and 2'9" ish.  I somehow lost my
reigns over the first jump and I didn't bother getting them back
again... he just perks his ears and keeps going.  The only thing
is, after a jump or a line of jumps(totally steady going up to it and
in between a line) he takes off.  He just sooo excited, lol... I
get a kick out of it.  Though the first few times i went over big
jumps and he bolted after, i fell off, so we have worked on the bolting
issue and he has gotten alot better, but he would not refuse a jump for
anything!!  I love him!

It was fun, once she's pointed at the jump, she just goes!!!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl# #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#BTW, he looks a million times better in the riding pics than in the "just got him" pics....nice job!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
